PREGNANCY AND REPRODUCTION: ABOUT MEDICAL CARE
Skilled medical care from the moment you conceive is today's concept
of modem obstetrics. This leaves nothing to chance. "Good luck" and
the bad old days are the legend of a bygone era. They are not for
today's modern mother-to-be. Only the best will do.
So you have become pregnant!
The tell-tale symptoms were right. You thought you were, but now
this has been officially proved. Tests with a high degree of
reliability have indicated that you are. You feel pregnant. What's
more, you probably have started to get the pregnant look about you.
Some deny that this happens,
but others believe it to be
true.
As time goes by,
the look becomes more and more of a reality.
Indeed, not only will the inner you tell you that you are very much
pregnant, but the mirror will confirm the news without a doubt.
Soon your friends will begin asking questions.
That is, if you don't tell them first, and it is a good idea to
share the news around. The psychological value to be gained from the
kind words and interest of your close friends and relatives at this
time is often very supportive. Indeed, it can make the whole
undertaking seem that much more intimate and real, and an occasion
for inner rejoicing.
Parents are usually a great help when they learn that you are
pregnant. Comforting, encouraging words are always welcome in this
hard, cold world, and when spoken by kindly parents, they are all
the more encouraging and appreciated.
Parents have been through the business before, perhaps on several
occasions. They know what is involved. It is often worth taking
notice of what they have to say, for experience is a wonderful
teacher. Of course, you will learn a great deal for yourself, but
very often, in sudden time of need, a few words of advice or
caution, spoken by a senior, will be recalled. It can be helpful,
and very encouraging.
